ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

The ÀNECBLAU Shopping Center considers environmental excellence as a fundamental value of its business strategy. For this reason, it carries out its activities while protecting the environment, in accordance with the principles of safe and sustainable development and environmental risk management, implementing improvements that protect the building and its surroundings, combat climate change, protect biodiversity, as well as reduce the consumption of resources and raw materials, the generation of waste, and the emissions inherent to its activity.

As a result, and in compliance with these environmental commitments, it applies the foundations of the following environmental policy, and requires contracted companies and suppliers to provide their services in line with these same principles:

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, POLLUTION PREVENTION AND MINIMIZATION, AND PRESERVATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES: Adopt measures for environmental protection and pollution prevention in general, optimizing the use of resources, prioritizing renewable resources, reducing waste, and applying measures to lower emissions.

INTEGRATE SUSTAINABILITY INTO OUR BUSINESS STRATEGY: Ensure that sustainability is both a priority and a practice, and guarantee that the criteria leading to it are suitable to the context and purpose of our organization. Use resources rationally and minimize environmental impacts, waste generation, emissions, and discharges through continuous improvement processes, setting environmental goals and targets, improving asset life cycles, applying best practices in operation and maintenance, and implementing circular economy principles.

INCORPORATE BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION INTO DECISION-MAKING: Consider biodiversity as a key element when selecting solutions in the planning, implementation, and operation of facilities.

PROMOTE THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE: Encourage the use of renewable energy, promote energy saving and efficiency, and anticipate adaptation to new conditions derived from climate change.

FOSTER INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT: Encourage innovation and the use of the best technologies in our facilities, applying criteria of energy efficiency, responsible water consumption, rational use of natural resources, and minimization of generated waste.

ENCOURAGE CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT OF THE ASSET LIFE CYCLE, OPERATIONS, AND MAINTENANCE PRACTICES: Minimize unnecessary generation and promote the reuse and recycling of goods, as well as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

IMPROVE BUILDING PROTECTION: Assess environmental risks to verify the condition of the building against natural risks inherent to its surroundings and adopt continuous improvement measures based on the results obtained.

MAINTAIN A CULTURE OF RESILIENCE: Promote adaptation to environmental changes, and fundamentally to climate change, maximizing the resilience of the asset.

COMPLY WITH LEGAL REQUIREMENTS AND OTHER SUBSCRIBED OBLIGATIONS AND RESPECT ETHICS AND VALUES: Maintain constant monitoring of compliance with current legislation and other subscribed environmental requirements, periodically review environmental performance, and require our contractors and suppliers to comply with these same principles.

PROVIDE THE NECESSARY RESOURCES: Provide the appropriate means so that all staff can identify and apply sustainability guidelines in the development of their work.

CONSIDER ENVIRONMENTAL CRITERIA IN PURCHASING: Follow sustainable purchasing principles in the supply chain, promoting the acquisition of environmentally friendly products, goods, and services.

SUPPORT PEOPLE: Promote and participate in initiatives that foster awareness, training, and sensitization, and progress towards sustainable development for our employees, customers, visitors, and society in general, as a basic principle of continuous improvement in our relationship with the environment and the stakeholders connected to the Shopping Center.

ACTIVELY REPORT ON ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS: Actively communicate social and environmental results, as well as sustainability initiatives.

PERSIST IN CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Plan medium- and long-term objectives that are both the cause and effect of continuous improvement, being aware that these can only be achieved through effort and proper adaptation to changes; review the Environmental Management System to introduce whatever changes are necessary to achieve the established improvement goals, aimed at reducing the consumption of natural resources (energy and water), minimizing generated waste, and promoting recycling; as well as fostering resource conservation through the implementation of reduction, reuse, and recycling practices.

This document serves as a framework for establishing the strategy, plans, and daily operations of the ÀNECBLAU Shopping Center’s Management in the development of its activities and is publicly available.
